Alien Hunter Review
Alien Hunter is a video slot machine by Playtech that has five reels, 25 paylines and is part of the Dollar Ball network. The theme of the game is a campy take on 1950s science fiction.
Gameplay
Alien Hunter allows you to bet up to 10 coins per line, which provides a range of one to 250 coins per spin. The default coin size is $1, but you can select a coin a small as $0.01 or as large as $100. Note that although the machine allows coin sizes up to $100, most online casinos do not and instead cap it at $1, $2 or $5. Therefore, the minimum bet is $0.01, the minimum bet to activate all paylines is $0.25, and the maximum bet will vary depending on where you play.
Special Features
Monkey creature in a cage serves as the jackpot symbol and will pay out 10x with just two instances on an active payline. The alien hunter flying his ship is the scatter symbol and can pay out up to 25x. The cracked egg is one of two bonus symbols, and when it appears on the first and fifth reel, it launches a pick’em bonus round that can pay out up to 720 coins. The alien hunter headshot is the second bonus symbol, and when three appear on an active payline, it launches a twitch-based bonus game with payouts that can rival the main jackpot.
Graphics & Audio
While Alien Hunter does not have high production values, it has a quirky visual style that just works for us. It can be a tad cluttered at times, however. There is no music, which is a shame, and the sound effects are short-lived and only audible during spins, which is probably for the best.
Jackpot
The top line jackpot is 10,000 times the line bet. Therefore, if you were playing $1 coins at 10 coins per line, the line jackpot would be $100,000. Since you can hit the jackpot on all 25 lines, the total payout could be as high as $2.5M. If the casino supports $2, $5 or even coins of larger value, then the max payday can be even bigger. Note that Dollar Ball payouts are separate and can be won in addition to the standard jackpot and/or bonus jackpot.
Overall
Alien Hunter is a fun, fast-paced slot machine that we work into our rotation on occasion. It offers a lucrative payout structure and supports small bets well. Whether or not you will play this machine regularly likely depends on how much you like arcade-style bonus games.
