Belissimo Review
Belissimo! — which means beautiful in Italian — is a classic online slot machine by Microgaming. The theme of the game is a pizzeria, and the symbol set includes a mustached Italian chef, a fire-colored seven with a pizza oven background, triple bar, double bar and single bar.
Gameplay
The slot machine has three reels and five pay lines (find here the complete set). Available coin sizes range from $0.25 to $5, and the game allows just one coin per line. Therefore, the minimum bet is $0.25, and for the player who wants to activate all bet lines, the betting range is $1.25 to $25. Use the plus and minus buttons to adjust the coin size, the Bet One button to adjust the coin count and the Spin button to start the round. The game has a Bet Max button for convenience, and Expert mode allows you to streamline and automate play.
Special Features
The game’s primary special feature is the mustached Chef, which serves as the wild symbol in addition to the jackpot symbol. The wild symbol can substitute for any other symbol in the set to form a standard winning combination. In addition, the game has an any bar feature, which returns your wager (or awards you a free spin, depending on how you look at it) when you hit any three bar symbols across, which is a non-standard combination and thus the wild does not apply.
Graphics & Audio
As with most classic slots, the graphics and audio are fairly simple, but the attention to detail applied here is definitely noticeable. For instance, the tablecloth print that was once a standard in New York pizzerias is used as the slot machine’s background. The music and sound effects are also quite good, but there is a mute option, which may be helpful during long play sessions.
Jackpot
To hit the jackpot, you need three chef symbols in a row on an active pay line. The jackpot amount depends on the pay line: 1,000 coins on the first; 1,500 on the second; 2,000 on the third; 2,500 on the fourth; and 5,000 on the fifth. At the maximum bet, therefore, the maximum jackpot is $25,000.
Overall Impressions
Belissimo! is simple slot machine, but it is also quite fun and plays at a great pace. The first time we tested it, we kind of lost track of time and played it far longer than we usually spend on classic slot machines.
