Blackjack Surrender Review
Blackjack Surrender is an online, virtual blackjack game by Playtech that uses the surrender rule. Once the dealer checks for blackjack, surrender allows a player to fold in return for half the initial stake.
Gameplay
The minimum initial bet is $1, and the maximum is $300. The player places his bet, and the dealer gives two cards to the player and two to himself. The player can then choose to double his bet, which can be done once per hand, hit, which is to receive another card, or stand. A player can continue to hit as long as he does not bust, which happens when surpassing a hand value of 21.
If the initial two cards have the same value, the player can opt to split them, which is to form two distinct hands and double the bet. If a dealer shows an ace, you can claim insurance, which hedges against a dealer blackjack. Additionally, a 7 Card Charlie, which is seven drawn cards without going bust, is an automatic win.
Special Features
Blackjack Surrender allows you to play up to five hands at a time, and since the split feature is a possibility on all of them, a player could have 10 active hands going. If a player were playing $300 a hand, it would be possible to have $3,000 in stake on the table, and that amount could be even higher if insurance was in play on any of them.
Graphics & Audio
The blackjack games by Playtech all have a great look to them and are very user-friendly, and Blackjack Surrender is no exception. The sound effects are authentic, and light muzak plays in the background.
Jackpot
The theoretical RTP of Blackjack Surrender is 99.62 percent. A win pays out 2 to 1, so if a player wagered $300 and won without insurance, they would win $600 and have the $300 stake returned. If a player were playing five hands at $300 a hand and split all of them, $6,000 could be won in a single round.
Overall
When a surrender feature is available, there is no reason not to opt for it over standard blackjack. Keep in mind that this game offers later surrender — after the blackjack check — rather than early surrender, which is not as good but still better than nothing at all. When to use late surrender is beyond the scope of this review, but it is worth researching because used well it allows you to lower the house edge.
