Sunset Beach Review
It's been tried before. The good news is that beach babes and slots games have always proven to be a great combination, at least in the eyes of the male species. With "Sunset Beach," Playtech takes players to one of the most famous beaches in Southern California. The game has a unique format, which compensates for the rather ordinary graphics and lack of exciting bonus features.
The game's best audio/video feature comes when a stacked beach bade appears and does a little shimmy to disco music on a winning spin. Overall, this medium variance slot game is more about the theme than it is about substance.
Game-Play Features
Sunset Beach is a non-progressive slot game. Playtech has used a four-in-one game format that offers veteran players something a little different. That's correct, there are four slots games that are all played at the same time. Each one has five reels and 20 pay lines. The minimum bet is $.01 per pay line or $.80 ($.01 x 80) up to a maximum of $25.00 per pay line or $2,000.00 ($25.00 x 80). The low-paying symbols are playing card numbers 10-A plus a soda can and a beach volleyball.
The wild symbols are represented by blonde, brunette and red-headed beach babes. They substitute for everything but the margarita free games symbol and the scatter symbol (surfer girl). If a wild comes stacked (reels 2, 3 and 4 only) on any of the four games, it is cloned in the same spot on all the other games to the right. The game comes without multipliers, which makes the highest paying jackpot 3,000 coins for five brunette wilds.
Special Bonus Features
Playtech has made this game as simple as possible. There aren't any interactive bonus features, but the free games feature does come with a very unique twist.
Free Games Feature - The "Free Games" symbol only appears on reel three. In order for the player to be awarded free games, they must hit the free games symbol on all four games at the same time. If they succeed in doing so, the player is awarded 15 free spins applicable to all four games. During free spins, a free spins symbol appearing on any of the four games results in an additional two free games with an unlimited capacity.
Summary: - Unfortunately, Sunset Beach doesn't offer much in the way of real excitement. The payouts are low and the game lacks depth without a meaningful bonus feature to entice players to stick around. That said, the beach babes are kind of cute in their own cartoonish ways.
